Hey, it’s River Possum!

You never know who you’ll run into when you least expect it. Like recently when I was in Orlando at the 2019 ICAST show, walking around in my lakedarbonnelife.com shirt. “Well, there can’t be but one Lake D’Arbonne, I know that,” the voice behind me said. “Where are you from?”, the man all dressed up … Continue reading

Mack’s a Bassmaster!

Mack Green of West Monroe is one smart young man. The 14-year old has found his way right into the middle of big time bass fishing — not with a rod and reel, but with a camera. He’s becoming a behind the scenes social media rock star. He has even already had a video and … Continue reading

Harris nets the big one

Corey Harris netted the big bass of the Majestic Bass Tournament on Caney Lake this weekend, a 9.14 lunker. He also netted the biggest five-fish stringer, weighing 24.43 pounds. That meant he also netted the big check for the weekend: $1,000 ($500 for each of those finishes). That’s some pretty good fishbait money! Harris wasn’t … Continue reading

Our own ICAST Best of Show

I walked for three solid days at the 2019 ICAST show and never got out of the Orlando Convention Center. Boy, was it fun. ICAST is over and the nearly 1,000 bait, tackle and fishing accessory companies have packed up their gear and headed home. What a week. I’ve never attended before and I must … Continue reading

Bucket list: ICAST 2019

We’re going to Disney World! No. Wait. Well, kind of. Been there and done that. But summer in Orlando, FL is also famous for something else near and dear to the top of my bucket list: ICAST. The International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades. It’s the world’s largest gathering of new fishing related tackle and … Continue reading

Happy Fourth of July

In 1814, following the Burning of Washington and the Raid on Alexandria, Francis Scott Key and John Stuart Skinner set sail from Baltimore aboard the ship HMS Minden to secure an exchange of prisoners. Key and Skinner boarded the British flagship HMS Tonnant and spoke with Major General Ross and Vice Admiral Cochrane over dinner … Continue reading
