Hello. My name is Kinny Haddox. I caught my first fish when I was four years old and loved it every since. I’ve been an outdoor writer for 38 years including 12 years as the Outdoor Editor of the News Star. I write almost every month for the Louisiana Sportsman and I’ve had more than 300 magazine articles published – including BASSMasters, Outdoor Life, Southern Outdoors, Louisiana Game & Fish, Mississippi Game & Fish, Louisiana Conservationist and numerous other publications. Those who know me would never expect me to show up with a blog, but here I am.

I’ve always dreamed of living on the lake. After living most of my life in Bastrop & Monroe (with brief stints in Olive Branch, MS, and Texarkana, TX), I finally am. My wife and I lived on Lake D’Arbonne in Farmerville for almost 10 years. We are now living in Ouachita Parish, but not too far from the Big Lake!

I love to bream fish off the dock. I love to go to the BASSMasters Classic… and everything in between. And I love to tell stories about it all. Some of them are even true!

  3. Dear to the people who love Lake D’arbonne and the city of Farmerville. I LOVE LAKE D’ARBONNE and the pool that is their.I have been noticing something about Farmerville it has been growing a lot,in 2013 population was 3,815 now in 2015 it is 4,500 and then we getting burger king and walmart gas station. We was getting wing stop but I dont know what happen.Farmerville is the biggest city in Union Parish. And geuss what Farmerville name would of been woodville but the farmer people claimed the name Farmerville.okay now Lake D’arbonne is a pretty place too go fishing and boat race and too pop fireworks on 4th July and New Years. And its beauty cabins and camp sites and walk way’s and animals. So if you think you want to move to Farmerville LA then come on to the city of Farmerville.

  8. There used to be a ramp below the dam on the spillway side, but that area has been taken out as part of the new tainter gate project.

  9. Is there a good boat launch on the Downsville side that would put you behind the spillway? Just wondering…..

  10. Charlie, the best place to get a free map is at the Union Parish Tourist Center, 403 Fourth St or P. O. Box 328 Bernice, LA 71222, Toll free Number: 1-888-245-7145. The Lake Commission published a map that is for sale at several local sporting goods dealers.
