Consider these crappie “thumped” back.
Okay, that title isn’t exactly right. It’s really called the “Tree Thumper” and it’s a new B’n’M Fishing Poles crappie rod coming on the market for 2019. In fact, some stores are already getting them on the shelves. Or you can order them online at: https://www.bnmpoles.com/collections/fishing-poles/products/tree-thumper-by-steve-danna
The cool thing about it is that it was designed by Lake D’Arbonne resident and long-time fisherman Steve Danna. It says so right there on the pole! It’s design was born and raised around the cypress and tupelo trees of D’Arbonne and perfected over lakes around the pro crappie circuit by Steve.
When a crappie angler talks about how a fish hits a jig, they usually say it’s a “thump”. Well, its payback time for the crappie. This new rod loaded with a Bobby Garland jig “thumps” back!
The rod comes in 10 and 11 foot lengths. It combines the lightness of B’n’M’s Ultra-Lite series with the strength of it’s Brush Cutter series to offer lightness and sensitivity to fish with all long while still being able to snatch slabs away from stumps and tree roots. It’s made of a secret blend of high-modulus graphite. This rod features ceramic inserts, a bottom reel seat, and a contoured handle made of 100% Portuguese cork.
I got to test out one of the first Tree Thumper rods recently with Steve and it lives up to its billing. The fish aren’t up on the trees yet, but when they are, this could very well be the best weapon you’ll have to battle crappie with! And yes, even though the October fish weren’t on the trees, it provided a good insight into how the rod fishes. You don’t have to be on trees for this thing to work. And yes, it provided a fresh fish fry supper!
Steve, by the way, was just chosen as one of four new Outdoor Legends of Union Parish this past week by the local Farmerville Gazette newspaper. Steve is sponsored by B’n’M, Pro Formula products, Lowrance, Power Pole, Ranger Boats, Evinrude Motors, MP Nex Level, Bobby Garland Lures, Bayou Batteries, LTD, Ludwig Marine and Atlas Jack Plates.
