One of the neatest groups I’ve ever been associated with is coming fishing at Lake D’Arbonne soon! Its the annual Crappie.Com weekend! They have fun. They eat well. They eat well some more. And they keep it family oriented. The annual event will be held out of the Lake D’Arbonne State Park between Bernice and Farmerville on November 8-10, 2018.
Brother Warren Maxwell of Team Overalls gave us the following information. Take it away, Brother Maxwell:
“Hey Y’all, it’s Fall. Time for the Crappie.com Gathering at beautiful Lake D’Arbonne. Every year on the second Friday and Saturday of November, a group of fishermen who are members of Crappie.com gather at Lake D’Arbonne State Park to meet, greet and eat. Oh yeah, also fish! These members are from all over the United States. We have a group coming all the way from Michigan this year.
Fishermen start gathering at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday at Lodge #6 in the State Park. Thursday is “Grill Night” where participants bring their favorite food to put on the Grill, which is sure to be Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, and Boudin. Friday morning the fishing starts with as many as want to fish. Friday evening around 7:00 P.M. is the “Pot Luck Supper” where every kind of food imaginable is served. There will be Gumbo, Etouffee, Fried Boudin Balls, Brisket, Stuffed Eggs, Pies, Cakes, Sweet Tea, and all the trimmings. On Saturday the fishing continues and fish are caught and cleaned for the “Fish Fry” on Saturday night.
On Saturday night there will be Fried Crappie, Fried Shrimp, French Fries, Hush Puppies, Cole Slaw, Sweet Tea and probably some left overs from Friday night. You don’t want to miss it! After Supper the Door Prizes are handed out which many Sponsors have donated to the “Gathering”.
If you are not a member of Crappie.com go on the website (crappie.com) and register, its free. Hope to see you there where we will be having Fun, Food, and Fellowship among Fishermen.”
