My favorite outdoor writer ever was Patrick McManus. He wrote a monthly column for Outdoor Life magazine back when it was about real hunting and fishing. He also wrote some great humorous books. Outdoor Life put his musings on the back page, which is why, I think, someone coined the phrase “saving the best for … Continue reading
Proverbs 15:1 — “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.“ Sometimes, there are Bible verses that we don’t want to hear. Right? Like this one: But they are pretty easy to understand, aren’t they? The tough part of this is when to speak up and when not to. We … Continue reading

We will take this time to regroup and make 2021 the best year yet. We appreciate everyone’s continued support of the Watermelon Festival and … Continue reading

The drawdown is supposed to … Continue reading

If you’ve got your eyes open, every new day brings new lessons in life, whether you are dealing with politics, food, fishing or just about anything. This past weekend, Ouachita River anglers got a lesson in perseverance, patience and confidence from a visiting Oklahoma fisherman. Robert Carlile won the American Crappie Trail Ouachita River National … Continue reading
