America matters

There was barely light to take a photo as the American Crappie Trail began it’s day on the Ouachita River with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. God Bless America.

Burning cities. Looting. Murdering. It’s against the law of man. It’s against the law of God. But the lost among us do not care. And those that stoke the fire of hate against our land do nothing to bring positive change. They only seek to destroy.

Kneeling for the flag? The flag that represents the most free, tolerant nation in the entire world? Kneeling serves no purpose other than to call attention to ego driven individuals. Positive change is brought about by dialogue, hard work, fairness and honesty. Today we are short on those, especially in the unhappy.

Professional sports – grown men playing little boys games – have become the cauldron in which much of this absurdity stews.

But not all professional sports. It garners little notice. You’ll never see it on TV or in the newspaper. But at the start of major fishing events like the recent American Crappie Trail tournament, prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America comes before the first bait hits the water. Stand up for what you believe in a peaceful and honorable way. And never, ever give up on the country that is truly the land of the free and the home of the Brave.

God Bless America. It’s not perfect. Never has been. Never will be. But there is no other nation with near the opportunity and freedom for those who seek it.

Matthew 6:9-13: “This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
