Hey, crappie kids:

Saturday, Oct. 12 on Lake D’Arbonne, there is a unique opportunity for young student crappie anglers in this area. If you have a young fisherman, check it out. This is a legit deal, folks.

Outdoor Kids LLC will hold a crappie fishing tournament for teens to win scholarships for college or trades schools in Farmerville on Lake D’Arbonne October 12, 2019. Sponsored by Crappie USA, Frontier Metal and Mid-State Seed, Teens Crappie Fishing for Scholarships, the tournament will be filmed and aired on the Pursuit Channel and hosted by National Champion Paul Alpers. A lot of work has gone into making this an exciting event and if it gets local support, it will be the first of many here.

Scholarships awarded are from sponsorship. First place will be guaranteed a minimum of $4,000.00 ($2,000 per team member), $2,500.00 second place ($1,250 per team member), third place will receive $2,000.00 ($1000 per team member) and fourth place $1,500.00 ($750 per team member). Anyone wishing to donate may do so by mailing donations to: Outdoor Kids Teen Crappie • 220 Mohawk Ave. Louisville, KY 40209 or call: 502-384-5924 / 573-280-8020 . All donators will be recognized at the tournament.

Here’s one of the best parts. There is no entry fee for anglers to compete. At this time the tournament is limited to the first 100 teams to sign up. Anglers must hold a A.C.A. American Crappie Association membership which gives anglers a year membership with Crappie USA and Outdoor Kids. Students may participate in the tournament from the time they are going into their freshman year (having completed jr. high or middle school) up until the time they have entered college. At least one team member must be of the proceeding age. The other team member may be as young as 12 years of age. Teams must have a boater that is 21 years of age or older.

Registration and voucher pickup will be at 5:00 PM and the seminar-meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, at the WILLIE DAVIS RECREATION CENTER, 116 Cox Ferry Rd, Farmerville, LA. on October 11th .

A mandatory cooler and live-well check will be at D’ARBONNE POINTE, 147 Old Hwy 15, Farmerville, LA from 5:00 AM to 7:30 AM. Anglers will fish from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on October 12th. Weigh in will also be held at D’Arbonne Pointe. Anglers must be in the weigh in line by 3:00 PM.

******* This is very important: Waters are off limits for pre-fishing from dawn on Oct. 7th to dusk Oct. 10th. Anglers may pre-fish on October 11th but must be off the water at 4:00 PM.

A full set of rules are online at www.outdoorkidsllc.com. Anglers may download and mail in their entry form from www.outdoorkidsllc.com website or call in their entry at 502-384-5924 or 573-280-8020.
