Old fashioned fish call

Fishermen and their gadgets. It isn’t just a new thing…

All this talk about “Live Scope” and advances in fish catching technology. What about this?

I was just a kid (yes, that was a long, long time ago) when my dad bought this. It’s from Sears. A Ted Williams Model TR-VII supersonic fish call. You put a little pellet in the clear plastic tube, flipped the switch on the little light inside and turned the dial on the white box to set the volume of the simulated shad sounds.

It leaves me with three thoughts:

No. 1 — I can’t believe my dad actually bought it.

No. 2 — I can’t believe I still have it.

No. 3 — I wonder if it would work?

  1. Ha! I do. I had one of those but decided to quit trusting it and just fish with a shad colored crank bait and a purple worm!

  2. Remember the color selector? I thought that was the coolest thing since sliced bread.
