Even if they didn’t give a single prize this Saturday, the Tyler Wheeler Big Bass Tournament on Lake D’Arbonne would be a good deal. The event, Saturday, May 6, is to help raise money for expenses during his road of recovery. Tyler, A LDWF Agent was shot in the line of duty in January.
This tournament will be directed by Dale Taylor and the weighin will be at Ludwig Marine. This will be an hourly tournament, with fishing from beginning at 6 a.m. (Note: the original tournament info said “safe light”, but fishing CAN begin at 6 a.m.) There will be six hourly weighins. Entry fee is $100 a person w/ optional big bass fruit jar. This is not a team tournament, but two anglers are allowed to fish in the same boat. They will also be selling t-shirts at the tournament, but you can also go by any location of Marion State Bank, get one for $20 and wear it to the tournament. As the video says, Tyler will be there, too.
Brochures are available at all local Tackle shops and the Farmerville Flower Shop. Payout is based on 100 entries will include $400 for first, $300 for second, $200 for third and $100 for fourth in hourly payouts. Overall big bass will pay $1,000, second $500, third $300 and fourth $100. And all the monies raised will go to a very worthy cause. There will also be an hourly dink division. The lightest 12″ fish will be selected each hour for a choice between a Lew’s reel or a DUCE fishing Rod.
