Youth whopper contest

Okay, it doesn’t have to be a “whopper”.  It can just be a regular fishing tale. Nothing but the truth and no exaggeration at all. You know, just like the fishing stories I tell !!

Here’s the deal.  If you have a young fisherperson in your family that is 15 years old or younger, do they have a good fishing story to tell? Teachers? Share with your students!  A great end-of-the-year project! Check out the poster below. It’s really easy. Fish. Write. Win.  Go fishing, take pictures, win a lifetime fishing license and other prizes. Details of the contest are below:

To enter into the Youth Angler of the Year contest, go to the link below, complete the form and attach an essay about a memorable fishing trip in Louisiana. You may include where you went, who you were with, what kind of bait you used, what kind of fishing you were doing and what you learned. Include descriptive details to develop the story. Your essay will be judged for the heart of your story, not just on the writing style or grammar and spelling. Write an essay that makes us feel like we were right there with you. The contest is sponsored by the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries.

Essay must be written between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 to qualify. Registrants must be a resident of Louisiana.

Awards:  One boy and girl Louisiana Youth Angler of the Year will be selected. A plaque and a prize will be given during the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association Banquet the second week in August. LOWA will pay the banquet fee for the student and two guests.
