Saturday, January 14, there will be a benefit tournament for the Jason Thomas family on Bayou D’Arbonne hosted the Crappie Fishermen United Of Louisiana. Thomas is a regular fishing with the group and in other crappie tournaments in our area. His son was injured in a hunting camp accident this fall.
The event begins at 7 a.m. There is a $40 per boat entry fee; 1 or 2 people per boat; fishing times from 7am to 1pm. Please make every attempt to pre-register at pay stations like Honey Hole , Toledo Tackle , Taterbugs, or you can pay at Joe Bob’s on day of event by no later than 6:30am for an additional $5. Please pay in cash if you wait until the day of the event. At the tournament, you must be in line no later than 2:30pm (no exceptions). More of the rules: 8 poles or less; live or artificial bait; 7 fish limit for weigh with a 9 inch minimum size limit; payouts will include 1st place on biggest stringer and 1st place for biggest crappie.
The remainder of money raised will go to the family. There are also some great raffle prizes being collected by the group. The drawing for raffle prizes will follow the weigh in. There will also be chili on sale to raise money.
