This past weekend’s King of Kings tournament was a big success on Lake D’Arbonne. The weather was horrible and conditions on the lake were less than favorable, but more than 100 anglers hit the water in search of the biggest bass and biggest white perch. The winners, Monk Anderson (bass) and Andy Taylor (crappie) took home $500 for their efforts. It was great to see several anglers enter the tournament as bank fishermen and Taylor actually caught the biggest crappie off the bank — while talking to two anglers in a boat right out from him!
There were two other money winners — Fred Shields won $500 in a drawing among tournament participants. A special Sportsma’s Banquet ticket drawing was also held and Bro. Bubba Hoggatt won that $500. And the winners continue: Some 30 wounded veterans fished with local and area fishermen in the tournament and had a great time. Congratulations to the Chamber and the Bayou State Crappie Association for heading this up. We look forward to next year!
