Saturday and Sunday are the biggest days of the year for competitive bass fishing in north Louisiana/south Arkansas. It’s the annual Ronald McDonald’s Big Bass Tournament on the Ouachita River. It’s a bunch of McFishermen chasing McBig McBass for a McGood cause. If you haven’t already signed up and you love to bass fish, you should check it out. There’s more than $100,000 on the line, no pun intended. You can get all the information at http://www.bayou.com/rmh/bigbass.php .
Big bass of the tournament nets the lucky fisherman $10,000 and hourly payouts from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. both days ($2,250 cash an hour!) include $1,000 for first; $500 for second; $350 for third; $250 for fourth; and $150 for fifth. Early registration is closed, but you can register from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday at Lazarre Point in West Monroe. Be careful out there. There will be hundreds of bass boats on the river, plus lots of other pleasure boaters if the weather is warm. Keep safety first.
