If you want to make a peaceful, quiet fishing trip on the Ouachita River or Bayou D’Arbonne this week, you better go today! Starting tomorrow and going through Sunday, the Media Bass team circuit will be coming on the river out of Forsythe Landing in Monroe. Besides the regular fishermen and boaters, more than 100 boats are expected for the event–perhaps twice that many. The main reason is simple — with a full field of 100 boats, the first prize check is for $15,000.
There will be fishermen from around the country as this is one of four regional team championships for Media Bass on its Championship Team Tour. Teams qualified from one of 20 divisions across the southern United States.
Anglers will be testing the waters Thursday and Friday in practice days and then the actual tournament is takes off around 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The river is off limits Monday through Wednesday. The Forsythe Boat Ramp is headquarters for the weigh in at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
It should be an interesting tournament. The river itself is beautiful right now. And with all the fresh water in Bayou D’Arbonne due to the lake drawdown, there will be plenty of areas to fish. We aren’t getting many fishing reports from the area right now, but should have some good ones next week after this event. For more information on the circuit, check out mediabass.com .
