New limit official; Latest fishing report

This is a two-part post: O N E :      It’s official. Governor Jindal has autographed HB 719. That means the daily limit for white perch will go back up to 50 per person on Lake D’Arbonne and will take effect on August 1, 2013.  As you heard here first yesterday, HB 719 by Rep. Howard … Continue reading

Politics, fish filets and new limits

By design, it probably shouldn’t work this way, but it’s pretty common for Louisiana’s fishing rules and regulations to get tweaked or tumbled when the Louisiana Legislature goes “fishing” in Baton Rouge every spring. This year is no exception. There are several changes worthy of note coming following our recent session, most notably regarding crappie … Continue reading

FLORENCE, Ala.  — Nick LaDart and Brian Eaton of Louisiana Monroe punched their ticket to the Carhartt College Series National Championship here this past weekend in the College Series Wild Card tournament on Pickwick Lake.  The duo finished ninth overall with 33-10 ounces. Bethel University’s Jacob Hardy and Jake Lawrence brought in 40 pounds, 14 … Continue reading

Zzzzzzoooooom!

Mark your calendar for this weekend on Lake D’Arbonne. Either make plans to come watch, or make plans to get out of the way as the DSRA (Deep South Racing Association) puts on drag boat races on D’Arbonne June 22-23. This “Battle on the Bone” will feature  between 40 and 50 boats racing for a … Continue reading

Plenty of light

If it wasn’t so hot, I’d really love this time of year. I still like it, though. Why? There’s plenty of light. It’s light enough to fish at 5:30ish a.m. and isn’t too dark to fish until 8:30+ p.m. If you like to do things outdoors, that’s pretty cool.  Light even gives us a special … Continue reading

The Lake Mulligans

About two weeks into the first “test drives” of my website, lakedarbonnelife.com, in late 2012, two friends tried to help me spread the word by sending emails to all their friends and people who owed them money trying to help me boost my early readership. They provided morale and financial support. Both encouraged me to … Continue reading

Gator Getters

About ten times a week, someone comes to this site because they have “Googled” Jeromy Pruitt or David LaDart of “Swamp People” TV fame. Since I’ve written about them, people end up here by the search engine. Season Four of “Swamp People” is currently underway and the two area gator hunters are making their mark. … Continue reading

Smiling winners…

Here are some of the smiling winners from this past weekend’s Majestic Bass tournament on Lake D’Arbonne! Congratulations! For more details on the winning catches, check yesterday’s lakedarbonnelife.com …

Parent’s catch most Majestic

Saturday’s MAJESTIC Big Bass Classic on Lake D’Arbonne delivered as promised.  Or I should say, the fishermen (and women) delivered. Kendall Parent of West Monroe delivered the first place catch to the scales, an 8.33 pound largemouth that netted him $3,190. That’s almost $400 a pound! He caught the fish Saturday morning and weighed it … Continue reading

The fish catch a break

The little dock was empty. The ice chest was there. There were rods in the rod holders. The yo-yo’s hung ready. It was the major biting period. The weather was beautiful. But nobody was home. Lucky fish “caught” a break!
