It’s the season for giving, and the crappie at Lake D’Arbonne have been giving area fishermen a real treat. The fishing has been great and the weather has been for the most part, too.
Crappie fishing will be big on the lake this year for recreational fishermen and also for competitive events. There are probably more events lined up than any year I can remember. The bottom line on that is this great fishing is publicized all over the region thanks to social media and sites like this one. The end result is lots of good fishing, but there’s a business end to it, too.
Money coming into the lake helps businesses thrive, brings in badly needed tax revenue and raises property levels. The value of camps, homes and land on the lake are at an all-time high. A lot of folks just come for the view, but you can bet without good fishing, it wouldn’t be that way.
And even though some pretty warm days, folks wish there were less people on the lake, there’s room for everybody and the benefits are out of the roof.
Go fishing. Have fun. Talk up D’Arbonne! And be safe out there.
