It’s 100 degrees. Let’s talk deer hunting!

Win the Union Parish Big Buck contest and claim your part of the millions of dollars of cash and prizes and get your picture on the cover of Outdoor Life. No? Okay, maybe I got a little bit carried away.

But the annual contest does start up Oct. 1, right along with deer season, with several divisions for Union and Lincoln Parish deer — adults and youth — and if you kill a good one, make sure you get it entered. There are some pretty nice prizes. They are still wrapping up the details, but you can keep up with them — and updates — on the K&M Coffee, Corks and Camo Facebook page once they are complete. World famous deer scorer Greg Hicks will be working with the contest again and scoring bucks at K&M. More details on that as well. Even if you don’t have a big deer, it’s fun to come watch that, grab a bite to eat and hear lies (I mean stories) about the big ones that almost got killed.

This is a unique contest and helps call attention to the deer hunting in Union and Lincoln and a lot of work goes into organizing it and getting prizes. They are always needing a couple more sponsors so if you have a business and want to promote it, here’s a good chance (even if you can’t win millions and get your picture on the cover of Outdoor Life).

I’m looking forward to seeing the big deer come in almost as much as much as having chicken and dumplings for Sunday lunch!
