The National American Crappie Trial tournament is on Lake D’Arbonne this week, March 24-26. While the top 100 teams are eligible, only 64 boats fishing the championship. Thursday and Friday’s first round weigh ins will be at Rhett’s. Saturday only the top 25 will fish. For the championship, the weigh in will be on the steps of the Union Parish Courthouse in dowtown Farmerville. Prize money and payout for the event has not been announced yet.
The event is filmed for several national outdoor TV shows and social media live streamed. It will also be more comfortable and easier to watch the weigh in for fans downtown. Each angler will come up in their boat to the weigh-in spot. Let’s have a good turnout and support the effort.
The final day’s weigh-in will be a new approach to call attention to the host city and also give back to the community. Hamburgers and hotdogs are being served by the Arnett Ball Park to raise money for the park.
