It’s a testy time, for sure. And here’s something else to worry about.
The next week to 10 days, we should find out when, or if, there will be any sort of football season this year. I’ve gotta tell you, we better start making some contingency plans just in case there is not.
And it has nothing to do with football.
If there isn’t any high school football on Friday night, big boy college football on Saturdays (and Thursdays for minor league college teams) and pro football on Sundays, our Louisiana fish and game resources may be in trouble.
Record numbers of people gonna be like fishing and hunting every day and ALL weekend. It might be wise for the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to do some serious thinking about reducing limits on fish and game. But don’t limit the length of the seasons! We gotta have something to do. But you may want to think about lowering the limits for crappie and bass and maybe go to one buck and one doe for the deer harvest.
I know that isn’t very popular, but folks, if there is no football this fall and nothing extraordinary is done, there will be a record number of deer, squirrels, rabbits, ducks, bass, crappie….everything…. taken this Fall.
You think I’m joking? Well, kinda. But….
It deserves some serious thought. You remember this spring when you couldn’t find a parking spot anywhere around the lake while everybody was quarantined? Nobody saw that coming, either. Welcome to more of the same on the water and in the woods this Fall if there is no football.
So here’s hoping we have football. And fishing. And hunting.
