
Yes, Lake D’Arbonne Country fans. There will be fireworks and watermelons. This year’s Fourth of July fireworks on the lake will go on, although a day early. And while the watermelons may not be fresh out of the patch, the festival will go on in downtown Farmerville without missing a year.
Here’s the scoop. The fireworks will be held on Friday night, July 3 at darkish. Darkish is somewhere between when the mosquitoes really start to come out, but it’s still light enough to find a match to light the firepoppers, usually right about 9 p.m. There are several other area fireworks shows on the Fourth and to allow locals the chance to see more than one, this year’s show is on Friday.
And even though COVID has slowed down the Watermelon Festival, it will still go on, although a bit later in the year. It’s set for Sept. 26. Here’s the announcement from the sponsoring Farmerville Jaycees:
