News organizations around the world spend the first weeks of January reviewing the previous year’s top stories. And it’s too cold for me to go fishing, so here is part 1 of our view of what life on the lake can be like!
January – March

Are the fish biting? It’s easy to tell in January when the crappie fishermen line up by the dozens in the Lake D’Arbonne channels

It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s usually in February and it’s usually beautiful. Let it snow. We can fish tomorrow!

Slab crappie have become the No. 1 target of Lake D’Arbonne fishermen. The month of March the fish are shallow and easier to catch. Get the net!
Tomorrow: April – June
