Hunting isn’t for the faint of heart, or the absent-minded. It’s enough to keep up with hunting gear today, but as hunting seasons about to get going full swing, make sure you can answer this command properly: License, please. And that’s where it can get complicated.
Gone are the days when you can just buy a hunting license. It’s just about dad-blamed ridiculous. The best bet is to buy everything (Hey, do you think that’s what they hope?) and that way you’ll be covered. The game wardens have to go to a week long school just so they can learn the rules and regulations and interpretations. Here’s a list of the license options and costs for Louisiana hunters. Most of them, anyway…
That doesn’t even cover permits, licenses and day use cards for USFWS lands like Upper Ouachita and D’Arbonne National Wildlife refuges. And just in case I missed anything, let me remind you it is your responsibility to make sure you have the right license. You can’t take my word for it. It hasn’t happened yet, but one day I might be wrong…
And I’m “sharing” this friendly reminder from the Facebook page of Greg Hicks, expert deer hunter, scorer, photographer, and story teller: If you have a lifetime hunting license you STILL HAVE TO go get your deer tags to put on deer you harvest.
Don’t forget!
UPDATED: UH OH, I missed one. A reader sent the one below to me today:
