Want to Catch a Special Thrill? Then don’t miss the C.A.S.T. for Kids tournament on Lake D’Arbonne Saturday, April 29th. It’s a special tournament for some special kids.
Lake D’Arbonne C.A.S.T. for Kids Event is an opportunity for local children with disabilities, limitations, or special needs to enjoy the experience of fishing. The mission is to provide our special needs populations the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience fishing on the water.
There are 20 kids already registered for the event and there is room for more. If you have someone who is interested, have them contact the Union Parish Chamber or tournament director Brandon Jennings.
C.A.S.T. (Catch A Special Thrill) for Kids Foundation is a public charity that was formed in 1991 to join volunteers who love to fish with disabled and disadvantaged children for a day of fishing in the outdoors.
The C.A.S.T. for Kids Program is designed to create an environment whereby special needs children and their caretakers could benefit, leaving their problems on shore and sharing a day of fun on the water that they may not otherwise get to experience. The charity furthers its mission by increasing awareness of disabled and disadvantaged children in communities and teaching appreciation for natural resources. This is all made possible through the cooperation of government agencies, national and local sponsors, and local interest groups, and creates a rare and positive experience for America’s youth.
