For all of you hunters who will win prizes in the Union Parish Big Buck Contest who haven’t had a chance to personally thank me and others like me yet, I’ll go ahead and say “you’re welcome”. I’m talking about all of us who buy our $10 tickets and don’t really have a chance on winning, but we are good sports anyway.
Who should say thanks? Folks like Spearsville Police Chief of Police Joe Bryan is one of them. His big 162 1/8 trophy buck is currently in the lead to win and claim the $1,000 first prize. He’s probably especially happy about this because he just overtook retired Farmerville Police officer Barry Bryan, who just happens to be his Dad. Barry’s deer scored 149 and currently stands in second place.
If you are still hunting, you still have a chance to buy a $10 ticket for the contest in case you pass up one of these guys. You can get one for $10 at TaterBugs or most deer processors have them. Big deer are just starting to walk.Get your ticket today to help out the chamber bring more outdoor events to Union. The ticket must be purchased BEFORE you go hunting and the deer must be killed in Union Parish. Check the ticket or the chamber website for complete details.
Thanks to Greg Hicks he does all the scoring everyone in the contest. And to Peyton McKinnie, Dump Patrick and Bryan Tucker, who monitor the Buck Report Facebook page and several other sites keeping up with big deer to help out with the Chamber’s contest and banquet.
And as for who you are still out there trying to win, don’t worry about me. You’re welcome!
