Guns, ammo, camo, bug spray…the list of “must have” items for hunters is pretty lengthy today with all the gadgets, conveniences and contraptions we have. But there’s one thing you don’t want to go hunting without: Your copy of the Louisiana Hunting Regulations for 2016-17. All 122 pages of it.
While most rules and regulations remain the same year in and year out, some change. Some boundaries change and new requirements are often part of the law, especially on public land. Hunting is one of the most regulated sports I know of. I won’t start the debate here, but sometimes it seem like we have more restrictions that necessary on when to shoot, what to shoot, which license to have and where to walk with gerrymandered borders everywhere. But it is what it is.
Make sure you know the dates, limits, boundaries, etc. BEFORE you go to the woods. It’s the right thing to do and it can save you getting a citation.
And read the book. You can pick up a copy almost anywhere from sporting goods stores to convenience stores.
