It’s not even the Fourth of July yet on Lake D’Arbonne as I write this Sunday night, but already there has been a super fireworks show over the water, a boat parade and a day of celebrating and honoring our Vets at Lache Pas La Patate’s, six tons of barbeque grilled and eaten and I’d say about 2,800 gallons of gasoline burned in everything from bass boats to jet skis.
And let’s not forget, an untold melody of Patriotic music at every turn, including in our area worship services where “God Bless America” still focuses on the true source of our freedom.
Happy Fourth of July.
In these uncertain times, the PEOPLE once again prove that America is a Great Nation. And can be even greater.
And I’ve got to say this — the organized fireworks shows in our area are great, but you have to live on the lake to really understand what an awesome bunch of people live here. Bombs were bursting in air from dark to…well, till way after I am going to sleep. it’s becoming bigger and better and more entertaining every year. Thank goodness for screened in back porches where us old folks can sit and watch the red, white and blue explosion celebration.
I hope you and your family continue the good times Monday, the actual Fourth of July. The fish are biting. The sun will be shining. Just one thing, please:
Be careful out there. Make sure you live to see and enjoy another Fourth of July. God Bless America.
