Crappie fishing on the Ouachita River and some of its backwater lakes has really picked up in the past couple of weeks.
A group of local crappie fishermen are hosting a “Get Your Jig On” crappie tournament on July 16. It’s open to the public and headquarters will be the Finch Bayou Recreation Center ramp just outside of Marion.
It’s a single pole event with fishing from 6 a.m. until noon. Weigh in will be at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $40.00 per team with a $5. launch fee.
