I don’t often write in this space about something I wrote in another space, but I hope you’ll pardon me for doing that today.
One of the biggest crappie gatherings of the year on D’Arbonne is the annual fall fishing and fellowship event of the crappie.com followers from around the region at the Lake DArbonne State Park. Anywhere from 80-100 fishermen and their families gather to eat, sleep and fish mixed in with a healthy dose of stories (If you want to know more about that, just go to crappie.com and get on the Louisiana forum).
Mark Weldon (aka Doc Waldo) of Bossier City is the trailboss for that event with lots of help from others. This month’s Louisiana Sportsman magazine has a six-page feature called “Where’s Waldo”. If you subscribe to the magazine, make sure and check it out. There will be some of the article on the Sportsman’s online site in a week or so, but you can’t read the whole thing and see all the pictures without a magazine.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it. And I want to thank fellow outdoor writer Glynn Harris with teaching me the technique for taking a fish photo like the one below without distorting the size of the fish whatsoever. Really. Honest. Trust me.
