Saturday just before sunset, the rain stopped and we watched sun shine on Terrell Island, which is totally shut off by flood waters. Most houses are flooded, their residents evacuated. Suddenly, a beautiful rainbow appeared. I think everybody in town that was outside saw it and it may have become the most photographed and shared rainbow in history. There is hope even in the darkest hours.

Lake D’Arbonne continues a slow drop. At 8 p.m. Saturday, Lake D’Arbonne was at 87.82 feet, a full foot lower than 24 hours before. In our previous two reports, at 8:00 a.m. Saturday the lake was 88.49 feet. It had been at 88.89 at 8 p.m. Friday night, where it crested and began a slow fall.
Reminder: The lake is CLOSED to boat traffic except for emergency situations. Notice will be given when the lake is open again and it probably won’t be soon. Please honor this and help protect people’s property.
With everything happening right now, information is flowing almost faster than people can process it. Remember that things can change, and just because it’s on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true. Double check information. It’s important! Rather than cover everything here, I’d like to send you to several dependable spots, mostly Facebook pages, where you can keep up with the latest.

For State Road openings/closures (click on the site, then go to “Streamlined” and on that page, click on “Road Reports” If you don’t see your state road, you can put the number in the search bar and get updates. Because of the enormous number of roads, there may be a delay in getting some updates on that site):
