A lot of money is on the line for the entrants in next week’s Crappie Masters Louisiana State Championship fishing tournament on D’Arbonne. Also at stake are points in the angler of the year race and for spots in the national championship later in the year.
Believe it or not, catching fish for money has been around a long time, even back into Biblical Days. When Peter was approached about Jesus paying the Temple Tax, Jesus gave him these instructions.
“But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”
