This very same time last year, guess what I saw off my back deck at Lake D’Arbonne? Relax Crappie Masters. Four + inches of snow. Won’t happen this year, but…

Okay, now we interrupt crappie season to bring you this announcement:
There’s something big going on Saturday night at the Willie Davis Recreation Center in Farmerville.
It’s the annual Union Parish Big Buck Banquet, celebrating the harvest of Louisiana’s No. 1 parish to hunt deer in. The “something big” is the three biggest deer taken in Union Parish this past season by people who put up their $10 to enter. As one who donated my $10 to the cause, I congratulate the winners.
Want to learn more? Tickets are $25 and include a great meal. They will be available at the door. You can hear the story of how the three big boys below were taken. Doors open at 5, dinner at 6, and the main event starts at 7.
No grunt calls, please.
PS – If you’d like to see a quick video of some of last year’s Banquet action, click on the Marion State Bank Video logo in the middle of the page.
