The bite is on

IMG_2132

Only caught a few yesterday, but they were good ones!

The white perch bite is on. Well, it was yesterday. It may not be tomorrow.

But if it is, somebody should know, because there have been between 100 and 300 boats on D’Arbonne the past week or so, except Tuesday when the wind blew 40 miles an hour. There were only 50 then…. Last Saturday there were more boats on the ‘Bone than at the recent Boat Show. Fish are still being caught deep, mostly on the inside edge of the channel, but some out in the middle and a few in deeper flats.

Fishing slow seems to be the key. And they aren’t jumping in the boat. Most of the fishermen who are catching 30 or so keepers  a day are doing just that, fishing pretty much all day. Shiners are working, but so are jigs. If you go this weekend, I’d advise you to pick the lure you have the most confidence in it and work it until somebody proves you wrong.

Fish have been varied in size from too small to keep to, well…see the chart below.
