Louisiana Hunters For Heroes will be having it’s first hunt of the year in Bastrop this coming weekend, Sept. 11-13. They will host 15 vets at Kinnaird Farm on the Old Bonita Road. As always, the public is invited for lunch on Saturday. The vets will be staying at Chemin-A-Haut State Park, which helped by donating some of the rooms.
If you want to help this organization, contact Donnie Vocker at 318-278-2909 or Bill Wiley or 318-381-1697. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org or go to their website, lahuntersforheroes.wordpress.com to help. Financial donations are welcome, volunteers are needed and help locating disabled veterans who enjoy a good outdoors day are also encouraged.
What’s Hunters for Heroes about? We will let Donnie Vocker, leader of the local group tell you:
“This is Donnie Vocker with Louisiana Hunters for Heroes. When we received our 501c3 the main goal of our organization was to ,assist the men and women of our Warrior transitions units at the military bases. We have recently learned that the WTU at Fort Polk will be closing soon and all the DAV’s will be redirected to other facilities. Late last season we started offering hunting and fishing to all DAV’s around our state, from any war era, any age. These trips are all expense paid except for travel there, which includes food, lodging, taxidermy, meat processing, guns to use and ammo. We are working on a big season this year and hope to be able to show as many Veteran’s as possible how we and the community’s in our state appreciate their sacrifices for our freedom. I’m writing to you because we need to put together a list of men and women who would like to participate in these trips. We haven’t found a place to get names of Veteran’s that would be interested. Contact us at 318-278-2909 or Bill Wiley or 318-381-1697, email email@example.com, or website, lahuntersforheroes.wordpress.com or facebook. Thanks for your continued support. – Donnie.”
