State Park Pool Will Open!

PoolWell, if somebody wants to go swimming in Union parish this summer, they won’t have to follow the state’s advice to “go jump in the lake” after all. And if they want to camp and swim at a state park, they’ll come to Union Parish! Why?

The Lake D’Arbonne State Park swimming pool

will be open this summer!

Thanks to a community effort by several organizations and individuals in Farmerville and Union Parish, funds have been raised to supply staffing and operating equipment for our local pool. I don’t know all the donors, or I would list them here. The state earlier cut budgets that closed swimming pools this year at all state parks and basically told swimmers to go jump in the lake while the legislature went fishing for more money.

This will be a great draw to an already great state park and will put D’Arbonne at the top of the list for campers and visitors with families! Great job! It will mean more visitors and more tourist income for our area.

Here’s the planned schedule:

Lake D’Arbonne State Park’s swimming pool will open for Memorial Day weekend on May 23. The swimming pool will remain open through May 25.  The pool will close May 26-27 for maintenance. At that point, the pool will begin a regular schedule of being open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
