One of the age old mysteries of life is:
“Why did the chicken cross the road?”
Well, if you show up in Dubach this weekend, you’ll find the answer. The chicken crossed the road to get to the annual Chicken Festival to take part in all the fun, games and good eating. Fortunately for the other contestants, no real chickens will be allowed in Saturday’s Strut, Cackle and Crow contest. That just wouldn’t be fair. But once you’ve watched this event (10:30 a.m. Saturday), you might think that a real chicken couldn’t win it anyway.
Seriously, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday the Chicken Festival in Dubach, put on by the Dubach Restoration and Beautification Organization (DRABO) will host the festival. For more information, call 318-777-1964.
There is a carnival and will be a car show, arts and crafts, a quilt show and all kind of activities from 6-10 p.m. Thursday; noon till 10 p.m. Friday; and 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday. Among my favorites, the chicken cooking contest and the drum stick eating contests on Saturday.
You can also find more details about the schedule in this week’s editions of the Bernice Banner or the Farmerville Gazette.
