LDWF kids day Saturday on the river

If you want to take an opportunity to take a kid fishing, it doesn’t get much better than this!

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host a Family Fish Fest in Monroe on Saturday, May 17 in conjunction with the Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Louisiana Kid’s Fishing Tournament.  The event will be held at Forsythe Park on the river side of the levee in Monroe.

The entire family is invited out for an exciting day of fishing, hands-on outdoor activities, educational exhibits and great prize giveaways courtesy of Pure Fishing and CCA Louisiana.  Registration is free and open to youth ages 15 and under.  The first 50 registrants will receive a complimentary rod and reel, and the first 100 registrants will receive a fishing goody bag.

Pre-registration is available online at www.wlf.louisiana.gov/familyfishfest.  All anglers are asked to bring their own fishing equipment and bait.

Beyond an exciting day of fishing, the Department will provide numerous activities for youth and adults alike including a mobile touch tank, fish identification, knot tying lessons, fish aging, arts and crafts and casting tutorials.  LDWF’s newest mascot, Robbie the Redfish, will also be onsite for photo opportunities and to greet guests.
