When Friday’s torrential rains soaked the area and the weather.com map had more green and orange on than fans at a Tulane-Tennessee football game, things were looking a little bleak for this past weekend’s Lake D’Arbonne Country Outdoor Expo at the Recreation Center.
But Saturday morning’s bright skies and a love of the outdoors by folks in our region combined for a huge turnout and a great show! Perhaps it was the 50th birthday display celebrating Lake D’Arbonne, the many activities for kids, the great displays and outdoor items, the Duckman look-a-like contest or just a chance to come see me (just kidding) that brought folks out. But they came, saw and enjoyed.
We are blessed to have so many hard-working groups and individuals to make a show like this possible. Thanks to everyone for a great day. And a special thank you to Jean Jones, who coordinated all the activities and committee for the Chamber and got everybody in the right spot to make it a success! And I have a personal special thank you for the local Boy Scouts who worked tirelessly during the event, especially at the end when old fishermen needed help loading up their displays to head home for the day. THANKS! If you missed the EXPO, make a mental note to put it on your calendar for next year. You’ll be glad you did!
