1. The Union Parish Tourist Commission has just updated their web site and it looks great. You can check it out — and all the links and information on it — by clicking on the Tourism ad to the right of this article.
Tourism is a big part of the economy of Union Parish and the Tourist Commission does a great job of promoting not only bringing folks in to visit, but helping keep our own residents informed of what is going on. Most of the attention here focuses on the lake and state park, but there’s a whole lot more in resources and activities that draw people from our entire region.
We’re proud to count the Union Parish Tourism Commission as one of our sponsors. Check out the new site and if you have friends or family who might be interested in keeping up with Union Parish Tourism, send them the link and let them check it out. If you haven’t visited Union Parish — what are you waiting on?
2. SPEAKING OF TOURISM: Don’t forget Fireworks on the Lake — Saturday night, 9 p.m. along Hwy. 33 at the bridge. Plenty of great parking along both sides of the highway, at Folley Beach and the D’Arbonne Lake Motel
3. Wow! And speaking of fireworks. Thanks to everyone on the Big Lake at D’Arbonne for that fantastic “around the lake” fireworks display last night. It was awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people shooting off that many fantastic fireworks from every shore. And over the water! Wow! Give yourselves a hand! Happy Fourth of July!
