Congratulations to Bastrop fisherman Tim Musgrove of Bastrop, who took home the grand prize of $10,000 for winning the 22nd annual Ronald McDonald House Ouachita River Big Bass Tournament last weekend. Musgrove is a veteran of the fund-raising event and his catch netted him just over $1,500 per pound of fish. His 6.58 pound lunker was caught on Sunday, the second day of the tournament.
Fishermen weighed in their biggest bass each hour and the top three won money each hour. The biggest overall fish was caught by Musgrove between 9-10 a.m. Sunday and it was the biggest of the tournament.
Musgrove said he had won money in the tournament several times before, but this was the first big win for him.
Scott Dalrymple placed second with a 5.78 pound bass, and Mark Thomas placed third with a 5.50 pound bass. All top fish were caught Sunday. There were 561 fishermen in the tournament that awarded more than $50,000 in total cash prizes. Unfortunately, the fishermen were pretty tight lipped about where and how they caught their first, so we are on our own!
The real winner is the Ronald McDonald House in Monroe. Thanks to everyone who fished the tournament and helped this worthy cause!
