I have never heard of anything so sad, so evil, so senseless in our day as what happened in Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Connecticut. The feelings following the murder of innocent children go beyond what words can express. This tragedy certainly deserves our attention and prayers more than anything I could write about in the outdoors ever.
Today, I ask that you stop and pray for the families, friends and classmates of these innocent young children. Pray for our children, teachers and schools everywhere. That’s all we can do. And please look past the political rantings and special interest talking heads who think more laws can protect us from something like this for they do not deserve our attention or respect. A gun didn’t do this. A sick, evil-filled individual did it. Focus on the young lives lost, lives snuffed out senselessly. Focus on those left behind who are hurting so badly – parents, relatives, friends, classmates, teachers. Focus on prayer for those victims. And know that, even in this darkest hour, there is hope beyond our understanding:
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen on you.
— Isaiah 60:19-22
