Big Buck’s Taking Over At K&M

This is the fourth season that I’ve scored bucks at K&M and I believe this may be the most inches of antler at this point in the contest that I’ve ever seen.

A deer that goes over 160 inches is rare and usually isn’t seen until later in November but Richard McLelland walked in K&M, slammed his buck down, and yelled domino with his 162 5/8” 11 point.

Later on though, Russell Colvin said “Lemme get some of that” and rolled up with his 9 point that scored 150 4/8”. This deer is scored as a 9 but is basically an 8 because the 9th point is just a bit over 1”. To get an 8 point frame to bump 150” is really special.

And then the night wasn’t done because later on Nathan Wilson walked up and shot us two times when held up with TWO great deer. The biggest taped out at 141 3/8” and the other at 135 and change.

Y’all, he had one eye on the deer and one eye on his wife Joanna the whole time. You want to know why? The big deer came off her stand. And just like any good husband would do, a little later on he takes her to a stand with some really nice deer on camera, while he hunted a gar hole.

Guess what happened next? Yep, the 135 came out, he shot, and the only thing Joanna could text when she heard him shoot was “Really?” Joanna, he clearly has a horseshoe somewhere. Now make him sit with you in the stand!

All in all, the night was filled with laughter and deer, as Mr Bailey and I scored a total of 14 racks.

The cold weather is back and hunters better take advantage of it. Here’s how the contest lays this week.
