It’s time for another year of the new Annual Boat Launch Permit program on Lake D’Arbonne. It’s the first time in the history of the lake that launch permits have been required.
As far as I know, not a single person has died or had to file for bankruptcy because of the new fee program.
In fact, a lot of good things are being done because of the money raised through the permit program spearheaded by the D’Arbonne Lake Commission, official known as the Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Watershed District Board.
Moving into the current century isn’t always an easy thing to do around Lake D’Arbonne, but thank goodness the commissioners bit the bullet and did the right thing here.
You can see a partial list of things the money is going toward on the Commission’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BayouDarbonneLake .
Here are the details: Annual Boat Launch Permits are now available. Permits are effective immediately and run through June 30, 2024. Regular permits are $50 and Senior Citizen (65+) and Veteran Permits are $25. Permits can be purchase at K & M Coffee, Corks, & Camo, Cooter’s Live Bait & Tackle, and Honey Hole Tackle Shop.
Property owners eligible for free permits can receive theirs at Union Parish Chamber of Commerce, but you are welcome to buy one to help support the cause of making the lake a better place.
“Funds received from the permits and daily launch fees enable the Lake Commission to better maintain and enhance Lake D’Arbonne and its facilities. The 2022 Lake Commission projects and 2023 projects currently in the works were made possible by these funds and our area supporters. We hope that you enjoy the lake and support our local businesses and communities!”, the group’s Facebook page states.
