Myers and Thomas

The thump was slow for the Crappie Fishermen United of Louisiana tourney trail Saturday on the Ouachita River out of Sterlington, but  there were some good fish brought to the scales and cooler weather made it a special day.

When the final fish hit the scales, Jason Thomas and Ken Myers had landed a limit of seven crappie weighing 9.29 pounds including a kicker big fish at 1.91 to claim the Thumperama championship over 16 other teams.

Here’s the way it finished:
* Jason Thomas and Ken Myers 9.29 1.91
* Carlie Mayberry and Dawson Cooper 7.01 1.55
* Paul Smith and Steve Thurston 7.01 1.41
* J.C. Morgan 6.68
* Sam Robison 6.10

Big fish:  Neal Pace 2.14

And, now it’s time for  Deer season

This weekend most folks will be trading in their crappie bites to see how their deer corn is producing. Deer season gets underway big time in Area 2 Saturday. The chart below shows dates for our Area 2, followed by a statewide map of deer hunting areas.

 One final note: Lots of folks are in the woods working on deer stands, duck blinds, bowhunting and involving themselves in other activities. Always put safety first. Let somebody know where you are going every time. Be safe out there.
