Green River not kind to locals

Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivins of Kansas State University are the winners of the 2016 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship, thanks to a series of consistent weights. They finished the tournament on Kentucky’s Green River Lake with 36 pounds, 4 ounces. The Kansas State team was the only one in the field of 89 teams to bring in more than 10 pounds every day.

The Green River was not kind to our teams from Louisiana Tech University and the University of Louisiana-Monroe. In fact, Louisiana’s only team to make a run at the Final Four and a shot at the title were JP Kimbrough and Jared Rascoe of LSU- Shreveport. They had 15 fish weighing 27-11 for fifth place.

John Ledet – Justin Cooper from Northwestern State University  were the next highest Louisiana team. Gunner Durrett – Austin Watkins  and Adam Forester – Scott McClellan from Tech and Tyler Stewart-Nick Joiner of ULM didn’t make the top 50.

Nice to see that the BASS College tournaments start each day with a prayer!
