Is it too early to start talking duck hunting? Apparently not. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is making available lottery hunts for ducks on three state management areas.
Applications are due to LDWF biologist Steve Smith by Oct. 2.
A $5 fee must accompany each application, which, along with all rules and regs, can be found on the LDWF website: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/hunting/lottery-hunts.
A variety of hunting opportunities are available on the Sherburne, Bayou Pierre and Russell Sage wildlife management areas. Hunts are set for youths, disabled veterans, handicapped individuals and the public. Youth hunters must be hunter-safety certified.
You can also call Smith at (225) 765-2359 or (318) 487-5885 to find out more about the hunting dates, regulations and opportunities.
