There are lots of people fishing. There are a few people catching a few. But it’s still really slow. In fact, this afternoon I found myself out in the channel about an hour before dark all alone. Not another boat in sight. I did manage to pull out several white perch in the last hour before dark, which is enough for
supper tomorrow. A couple of nice catfish on my six boat dock yo-yo’s made for quite a good mess of fish.
It is nothing like we’ve had the past couple of years, though. There are several reasons — cold winter, high water (there’s still lots of current) and mud and trash everywhere. It’s getting better, though. Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t take a 2.3 pounder to win the big King of Kings tournament for crappie Saturday. Bass fishermen aren’t talking much, but there have been a couple of fives caught in the past week. Look for that to just about do it in the bass division.
But I digress. Got fish to put up and fish fry plans to make.
Good thing, because the weather forecast is pretty threatening the next few days. I hope you get a trip in between the rain and I hope the fish start biting better soon. I am really bad at golf.
