I’m sure by now you have heard that in a recent study, the five happiest cities in America are all in one place — Louisiana!
Farmerville nor any other Union Parish city/town made the list, but that’s just because the folks that put together this study didn’t get to come to the Watermelon Festival, which is well underway today.
There are too many activities to mention here, but one of the highlights, as always, is the big parade
on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. You don’t want to miss it. I’ve been to a lot of parades and when it comes to “throw me something mister” the Watermelon Festival Parade is among the best — and folks actually behave themselves…well, almost.
I hope you plan on coming to see what’s going on. This is the 51st annual seed-spitting, parade going, melon eating, fishing and golfing, story-telling, street dancing, canoe paddling, watermelon dressing, corn-dog eating, treasure hunting, t-shirt wearing, etc. etc. event!
I can’t list everything here, but you can go to http://fjaycees.wix.com/watermelonfestival#! and find out just about anything you want about the Festival events , which run through Sunday.
