Hoppy hunting for Heroes

Hunters for Heroes is getting hoppy, hoppy, hoppy.

That’s right. The next hunt will be Saturday on 250 acres that border the Chemin-A-Haut Park north of Bastrop. And the target will be rabbits! Ten disabled veterans will take place in the hunt, donated by Assistant Secretary of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Jimmy Anthony. The soldiers are from Ft. Polk and Ft. Sam Houston.

There will be a bonfire and bbq chicken supper Friday night for the guests. On Saturday, there will be a chili lunch for anyone that wants to attend at the park. The hunters will go afield for a second hunt Saturday afternoon.

“The folks up at Bastrop deserve a big thank you for putting this together”, said organizer Donnie Vocker. “We’ll have several special guests and we’ve got a lot of volunteers.”
