Heroes duck hunt

Louisiana Hunters for Heroes is hosting another outstanding event for our veterans in Union Parish this weekend.

The Louisiana Hunters for Heroes, our state chapter of North American Hunters for Heroes, is hosting a late – season duck hunt for four veterans Saturday, Jan. 11. The soldiers are from the Fort Polk Warriors Transition Unit. The hunt is being donated by Danny Batten.

“We invite the public to come out and show their support for these veterans and for what we are trying to do for them,” said Donnie Vocker, president of LHH. The group will stay at Wild Wings Lodge in image-13Downsville.

Plans are to duck hunt in the morning and be back at the lodge by 12:30 – 1 p.m. There will also be skeet shooting and here’s where you can help: the more people that shoot skeet, the more money you can help raise for LHH. Donations are also accepted. This organization doesn’t have a big budget, but does its wonderful work with volunteers and donations providing for the activities.

Donnie can be contacted at 278-2909. Volunteers and donors are needed to make these events happen.
