I heard this last week: Thanksgiving has become a time when Americans give thanks for all that they have, then head out the next day on the busiest shopping day of the year to get more stuff. Wow. I also heard this a few years ago from a great preacher, Dr. Jeff Schreve, whose church I had the privilege of attending in Texarkana for a couple of years:
He said as we enter Thanksgiving the best thing to do is to turn Thanksgiving week into ThanksLiving all the time! ThanksLiving lets God know you have confidence in Him, no matter your problems or circumstances. Thanks is faith turned inside out. ThanksLiving changes your attitude. You begin to radiate the joy of the Lord. And ThanksLiving opens the door for God to work. God doesn’t like when we grumble and gripe … but He loves it when we focus on the good things, give him praise and thanks.
“In everything give THANKS; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18

#### PLEASE NOTE: I’m thankful for a lot of things this week, and most of them are not STUFF. Family, friends, memories…blessings beyond measure and a hope and faith in Jesus that brings peach beyond understanding. On a more earthly topic, I’m also thankful to let my blogging fingers rest for a few days. I hope you’ll click back through some of the archives and look at some of your favorite posts from the year.
I’ll be back with you again on MONDAY, DEC. 2. Have a great Thanksgiving… I mean, ThanksLiving.

Dr Shreve is a good preacher.. His reputation has reached far and wide.
